Died 17 June 1955 in Miami, Florida, USA, of heart failure.

Married actress Ruth Doris Ahrbin (screen name Ruth Hartman), 8 July 1909; divorced, 21 November 1923;
son, actor Carlyle Blackwell Jr., born 22 May 1913; one other child.
Married Leah Primrose Barnato Haxton, 29 July 1926; divorced, 25 March 1933.
Married actress Avonne Taylor, 25 March 1933; divorced, 25 June 1936.
Married Nancy Rachel Nicholsen Bradsby Emmons, 8 November 1946; until Nancy’s death, 6 April 1947.
Married Victoria Ann Enoch, 15 April 1948; until Carlyle’s death, 17 June 1955.

Carlyle Blackwell began in motion pictures for The Vitagraph Company of America in 1910.

When acting in England, Carlyle Blackwell entered into a partnership with producer Michael Balcon to form Piccadilly Pictures Company in 1926.

Blackwell retired from motion pictures in 1930, but continued acting as a live theatre actor.
