The Carthay Circle Theatre was a first-run venue. Carli Elinor’s Concert Orchestra played at the Carthay Circle. Organists Stanley Bentley and ? Scholl (first name unknown) also played at the theatre.

Following is a partial list of feature films that played at the theatre during its first four years of operation: 1926: The Volga Boatman (1926) [opened the theatre], Bardelys the Magnificent (1926), What Price Glory (1926); 1927: 7th Heaven (1927), Loves of Carmen (1927); 1928: Sunrise (1927), Four Sons (1928), Street Angel (1928), Fazil (1928), Lilac Time (1928), Interference (1928); 1929: The Barker (1928), The Divine Lady (1929), The Iron Mask (1929), The Black Watch (1929), Four Devils (1928), Dynamite (1929), They Had to See Paris (1929) and Rio Rita (1929).

In latter days, the theatre was owned and operated by Fox West Coast Theatres. The last film to play at the theatre was The Shoes of the Fisherman (1968). Scenes for The Comic (1969) were filmed at the theatre in October 1968. The building was demolished on 18 March 1969 for the construction of an office complex.
